# Overview

An organization can be used to represent a group of people collaborating together with Gitpod, such as an entire company or an open source collective. Through Gitpod organizations you can:

* [Manage Organization Members](/classic/user/configure/orgs/members)
* [Manage Organization Policies](/classic/user/configure/orgs/policies)
* [Manage Repositories](/classic/user/configure/repositories) (and [Prebuild](/classic/user/configure/repositories/prebuilds) configurations)
* [Apply Organization Policies](/classic/user/configure/orgs/policies) (e.g. restrict workspace sharing, specify default [workspace image](/classic/user/configure/workspaces/workspace-image#workspace-image))
