# Editor restrictions

> Standardize which editors and versions your team can use.

Control which editors and versions are available to your team. Useful when your organization needs to:

* Ensure consistent tooling for support and troubleshooting
* Avoid untested editor versions that may break workflows or extensions
* Meet compliance requirements for approved software

## Configuration

1. Click **Manage Editors**
2. Select allowed editors (at least one required)
3. For JetBrains editors, select allowed versions
4. Choose a default editor
5. Save

## Effect on users

* Only allowed editors appear in the selection dropdown
* Non-allowed editors return an error (including via CLI)
* Non-allowed versions fall back to the latest allowed version
